Taking recruits from D1 sims Topic

Is this like impossible as a D1 team? I'm currently recruiting and I'm trying to take a recruit from a D- prestige with my C- prestige. The recruit is 680 miles from the Sim and 90 miles from me and the sim has 4 guys considering them and yet despite a considerable amount of effort I haven't even gotten on this recruits list. But a couple seasons ago in Phelan with an A+ D2 team I was able to take a recruit away from a D- D1 team and it didn't even take this much effort. Is for some reason it even harder to take a recruit from a sim D1 school as a D1 school?

Define considerable amount of effort. I've had it take $20k or more even when I was much closer to the player than 680 miles.

It's not harder as a DI school, but this is probably a case where you're going after what the SIM considers to be his biggest need (i.e. No. 1 choice), so it's going to be more costly. In your DII case, you might have gotten lucky and nabbed a player who wasn't deemed high priority.

In my experience, when recruiting against a sim, you want to hit them hard for 2-3 cycles. I usually will hit them with 3-5 HC visits and 3-5 campus visits, per cycle, until they are gone. They will usually go away after the 2nd or 3rd cycle.

The sim will also drop most of their cash up front, so once you have a lead its usually yours to keep.

This part can be misleading, as sims always recruit as if they're around 200 miles away from the kid, regardless of the actual distance.

Ah, them recruiting at 200 miles explains it. Guess my edge is nowhere near what I thought it was.

its definitely possible. you should be pretty far ahead of him dollar for dollar between prestige and probably distance (i always consider the sim to be in the 2nd distance interval). the thing that makes the biggest difference on how much it costs is, is this guy the sim's primary target? its tough to say, im not sure its even deterministic, but if you look at all the sim's recruits, usually 1-2 are obviously the "prime target" and then rest aren't. common belief is that the sim spends pretty much more money on their prime target than anyone else.

i really don't think there is anything in place that makes it harder to take a recruit off a d1 sim as a d1 school. i've also taken players off simmy from a good d2 program, the reason you can do it without too much effort is because those players are not the sim's primary target (most of the time, at least). however, in d1, most of the sim's backup targets are way to crappy to consider (well, for all sims in the D/C range at least), so you are probably up against his prime target.

Spend $15,000-$20,000 and you win I bet.
