Curious to get everyones take on how they determine the optimum pitch count for their pitchers? The recommendations seem low. I try to come up with something that is even based on their stamina then tune according to how the pitcher does later in games. If they are pitching well when taken out I will bump up, poorly in their last inning or two I will bump down. Thoughts?

Start with the recs and adjust as needed. Keep a moderately wide range between the target and the max for your starters and use the pull rating appropriately.

Do you really think the recs are accurate? For example Matt Eischen with a stamina of 98 has a recommended TPC of 50 and MPC of 60. That seems extremely low for a guy who can throw 200 innings in a year.

How many pitchers do you have in the rotation when you hit recs?

Right now I have 4, but I typically have 5. The only reason I have 4 now is because I needed some bullpen help after a couple bad pitched games. So if I put 5 the recs will change? I guess Im just curious if its safer to go with the recs then adjust then trying to eyeball myself?

Ahh big difference when I added my typical 5th man.. I will try those out for a little while then adjust, thanks guys

I've noticed that anything less than a five man rotation screws up the recs.

screws up, or adjusts accordingly because you have less days before that pitcher starts again?

For starting pitchers, I usually do STA+15 for TPC and STA+15+10 for MPC. High talent guys will get an extra 5 to 10 pitches. 25+ DUR guys will also get a boost if my bullpen is tired.

For me it depends. On my current team, I have some prospects upcoming and some cash freeing up at the end of the season for free agents, but currently I have a pitcher with a durability of 12. Although his stamina could easily get him 7 to 8 innings, I limit his pitch count so that he can recover in time for his next start. Otherwise, I'd have to be skipping him in the rotation every start. The only way he gets deep into games is if he is really effective through his innings pitched
