been awhile for me recruiting at a low DI program and i just moved up from my last DII team to a D+ school.

what's the basic strategy? what rated players are safe to go after? is there a boost within 70 miles (like DII pulldowns)? any thoughts would be appreciated as i need all the help i can get with the squad i have.

Yes, there will be some players located w. in 70 miles who will talk to you who otherwise wouldn't if they were farther away.

My buddy just recruited w. a D+, and he was able to sign 2-stars. Some 3-stars gave him the backup response, but they were generally taken by teams he couldn't have beaten in a battle anyway. So I'd say to focus on 1- and 2-star players that look good to you.

I've just done 2 seasons at a D school, and both years I've been able to get a couple of 2 stars. Most of them dropped to me and I think I pulled one to me earlier than usual. The only 2 star that immediately talked to me was within 60 miles. Others of interest are 2 year jucos, who seem to talk to you before a four year player would, and inel. players who seem to welcome any correspondence. You can also get some good playerswho don't have the stars but really good potential. I find recruiting with a d is really tough...patience is really needed and battles are to be avoided as prestige seems to mean a lot more in d1.

at a D2, look at 0-200 mile 2 stars and 1 stars up to 350 miles.

With D prestiges, it pays to hold onto your cash longer than you would in most any other situation. I'd suggest staying closer to home, and focus on potential more than stars. You'll probably have the best luck with 1- and 2-stars and the high potential recruits that don't have star ratings. I think 5 of the 6 seniors on my team were 1-stars recruited with a D. Know what you're looking for as far as cores go and know what rating(s) you're willing to sacrifice.

got ****** off at my DII team one night and just did it. wasn't thinking clearly. see how it works out. can always go back to DII if this sucks.

thanks for the help guys. brought in a big class that i can develop. it will be a project. got guys in the 50-100 range and most of them have potential. have to wait and see what happens.

yep that is about the best that can be done. Should be fine after 1 painful year.
