"State of the Union" in Rupp DII

There appear to be 210 human coached teams in Rupp DII with 66 sims still available to move up into.

There are 2 conferences with 6 teams-human and 6 sims.

8 conferences have 8 humans and only 4 sims.

The other 13 have at least 9 human coaches or more.

and 7 conferences are either full or have only one sim.

Looks really good thus far.

We have a dozen teams in this evening.... just posted it to the conference's coaches corners and got 6 in 10 minutes... Hope to have 20-30 by this time tomorrow night. Looks like a good time.

also, several have commented about not thinking their team was good enough to compete... the format is to put 4 teams together with nearly the same talent level... if you just got to DII Rupp and have a team with 10 sim recruited bums... this might be your only chance to win a couple. Everyone has a nearly equal chance to win the "Happy Meal"

I would join the challenge but its my first season at the school and man are they terrible. Im reasonably sure the D3 team I behind could beat them.

Can we get a coaches poll top 25 put together this season? That and a real recruiting rankings were both mentioned at one time, I believe.

I woulda joined it but I already have those slots filled, maybe next year....

the coaches poll will be up and running this season... probably 2 x per week is all this season (beta testing LOL)... to see how it works and how time consuming it will be for those involved.

Recruiting rankings will probably still be next season. I will make a thread on the Rupp board for discussion on "Recruiting Rankings"

For you guys that missed the tourney this season...(don't have open weeks 9 and 10). We will do it again next season... try to wait to schedule any NC games until after recruiting is over. We will use 9 and 10 again next season as that gives everyone 10 warm-up games to get ready for the Classic.

Just to clear up a couple things about the "Mega-Bowl" as there has been some confusion the last few days.

The "Mega-Bowl" is actually... DII Rupp. All of it. If you're in Rupp DII, your a part of the "Mega-Bowl" whether you want to be or not!

We have taken over your peaceful world and are making it a VERY competitive place to live. Most of the coaches that were allready there I believe welcome the added coaches, and competition. Those that don't... sorry, you can go up or down but ya can not hide here... move it or lose it sister! Ha Ha Ha... sorry

Now, like I said... the "Mega-Bowl" IS DII Rupp, however, we will have side games and tourneys during the season that will have their own life.

The "Mega Bowl Classic" is a tourney that will be held each season near the end of the NC portion of your schedule. You don't have to be in it this year... you don't have to be in it ever... It is just going to be a huge group of teams that save weeks 9 and 10 for some serious fun.

The "Coaches Poll" and a couple of other ideas we have will roll out later. Keep in mind that alot of coaches are just getting to their teams... some are in DIII still, and some have had only one season... however... we believe if we wait much longer to do some of these things alot of interest will wane and teams will drop off.

So... we're rollin ..I think at last count we have about 48-50 teams signed up for the 1st annual "Classic" That's at least (12) 4-team brackets playing for the title.

I would like to take this chance to thank everyone so far. The responses have been EXTREMELY nice, nearly every single entrant has ASK... to be included, and THANKED us for doing it. Great community we have here even if it doesn't really exist

Yeah, the coaches poll and a recruiting rankings would be great ideas, although I might think the second one may be a little difficult to do if potential is included in the rankings. The classic is a really good idea zags. WIS has been promising in season tournaments for a while, but there's nothing wrong with creating our own. One question though, who is "we"/"us" you keep refering to?

to answer your question on the we/us.

I hate to say I am doing this or I will do that. There are 3 of us who are family/friend that are trying to coordinate some of this. Alot of the time when I use the word we or us I am referring more to the entire group of Rupp DII coaches. Some of the "we's" don't formally exist yet as well. When "we" myself, son, and a friend, began talking of this several seasons ago... and I posted a few times on the forums about this idea. (which had been mentioned several times on the forums... not our idea at all), Several long-term coaches chimed in and agreed they thought it sounded like fun. I then began to contact several of them to see if they would be willing to help in some capacity. Most said yes... just let me know when and how.

I hate to be so secretive about this but until it begins to materialize... there's not alot of "we" involved yet.

I have 12-15 coaches who I spoke to when we began 3 seasons ago and asked if they'd be interested in making up the voters for our poll. A couple who were very excited at first don't even have a team in Rupp currently. This is not a big surprise, things change, interests change, alot can effect who's here and who's active 6 months from now.

As "we" (Rupp DII- Mega Bowl) go forward. The "we" and "Us", will change. It's inevitable. 6 months from now I may not have an active team in Rupp DII, who knows? I hope to, but nothing is certain.

I don't mean to be so confusing, but I have a real job, several kids, oh and a wife, alot of good guys like Daalter, AlBlack56, and Billy_G have said they'd be glad to help out and try to make Rupp DII alot of fun to be a part of.

As time goes by they and alot of others will become some of those "we's" as well.
