I have a 4-time MVP who is up for free agency after this current season (which is just starting), he won't sign a long-term deal, saying that he'll wait until next offseason to decide whether to negotiate. So, my question, if I trade him to another team this season, what generally happens with trading players who won't resign? I traded one last season who, once he was traded, was then willing to sign long-term with the new owner. Is this generally what happens in these situations, or is that more of an outlier? Does going to a new franchise kind of reset their perspective on free agency, at least in general?
