Let's just assume you have all of your positions filled out well enough and you are going to start looking into random drop downs to blow your last few thousand on if you get a stud. You have no further gameplan than "best player available, it's okay if we miss."
I've been told previously that even if we send a few evaluations (assuming we don't have 10 or w/e to pull them down, or it's too expensive) we cannot get the player to drop any quicker. I am not sure of this in practice, but I have read the theory that it is impossible on this board.
Therefore, my question is this: Previously, someone told me that if you send 5 calls, 5 letters, and 5 coach calls, sometimes people will be considering you when they drop. I do not really do this anymore, it seems like a hassle and I never really need to do it because I usually just outright pull people down or wait. However, let's say that I am a backup option for a D1 player at D2. I send 4 player evals or so and a scholarship offer. Is it possible for this player to be considering me when they drop? This is normally enough to get a player to consider you if they are at your level already, so I'm just wondering if he'll be considering me when I drop, or if I should wait until he drops and then use the evals or HV + schollie on him.
