Before I'm accused of it, I'll just get it out of the way and say yes it is a complaint, so we don't get into a discussion on whether I'm complaining or not.

Apparently the 90% rule is not in effect, my guy Crowe has played 18.0 minutes out of a promised 20MPG. Okay, my fault, I broke a promise.

My issue is in real life in D-2 college basketball, every single player that plays 2 minutes less than he's promised isn't going to complain about his lack of playing time. Especially if he's getting 18MPG as a freshman. It's actually an issue of fatigue, not that I don't want him to play 20 minutes, but at the same time the engine should be a little more aware of what he needs for minutes, IMHO.

Picture this, a guy huffing and puffing and comes up to the coach after the game"

"Hey coach(breathing heavily), Remember (few more breaths) remember you said you promised(hands on knees and breathing heavily)......remember when you promised me 20 minutes a game.......ah heck with it, I'll talk to you later, I'm just too darn tired to complain right now".

Actually sorry, it was 17.8, but the email said 18MPG. So the 90% rule could be in effect, but still......

so what are you asking for???

a pop up window in recruiting?

after clicking on "promise 20 min" and before it submits, you get a message "are you sure, coach? he's got a stamina of 62".

i mean whats the issue here? if you promised 20, give him 20. you know there's a setting that you can give him more minutes right? just set him to "getting tired" or "tired". Problem solved.

and this is a sim. its not real life. you CANT talk to the recruit. there HAS to be a line drawn in the sand. WIS has drawn the line at around 90%. So thats 18 min in your case. If the line was at 17 min, coaches would ***** that were at 16.8. If the line was at 16, coaches would ***** that were at 15.8.

You didn't read my post, but that's beside the point.

Be honest. The game is supposed to resemble real life, correct?

If I promised you 20MPG, you're having a great season, everything is going great, you like your teammates. However, you're only playing 18MPG and you aren't playing your twenty because even you know you're tired and need to come out of the game. Assuming you are on a real life college basketball team..... are you really going to complain about playing two less minutes?
12/6/2009 12:32 AM
interestingly, i promised a guy 10 min, he was averaging 5-6 minutes a game, then i would play him more against bad teams, and now he's up to 8.2 minutes a game or osmething. he sent me an email at 5-6 minutes a game and said "coac, what the heck?" and then when he got to over 8 minutes a game, he said "coach, thanks man, you really showed that you are true ot your promises" and his WE went back to what it was when he got to campus.

is he still actually mad? might he still transfer? i guess frankly i don't care, he is probably only an average player for my program, and i could use the extra scholarship money as always (i've never had someone transfer, i would assume it is before scholarhip money comes out).

Anyways, I didn't suffer a WE hit, so I really don't have a reason to be personally upset. From a real life point of view, I was saying every single player isn't going to complain in this situation.

In real life, I would imagine it's very uncommon to promise starts and minutes to a player. I know the elder John Thompson on his radio mentioned he would never do such a thing.

Edited to add, aejones brought up a great point. Even though he's averaging 8.2 minutes per game, under a normal circumstance the player in question would complain, but since he still isn't making good on his promise, he's a happy camper. Not picking on you ae, but just wanted to point that out.
12/6/2009 12:36 AM
No, it's because he averaged 10 mpg+ in the time since he had complained.

wiz, you have no right to *****. If a guy's stamina is too crappy to play 20 mpg, then don't promise it to him. You know exactly how promises work in this game. If you can't fulfill it, don't promise it.

I know, I deserve everything I get, even a significant WE drop, I wouldn't complain or deny that.

I'm just trying to bring this into a real life discussion. Just asking in real life would this happen.

12/6/2009 1:32 AM
this isn't real life..

At this point, I'm convinced you're all trying to get me going....haha. No matter what my stance is even if I'm correct it will be a losing battle. I've already lost credibility with this thread. Time to get smart and zip my lip.

THREAD CLOSED.

Now that - that's a good point (and 100% true).
