DIV III sadness Topic

So, I'm sure this has been discussed, but i looked through DIV III today and found around 30 coaches in all conferences.

I know WIS wanted to see people move up and let new players come in with success, but i don't see how having an empty division let alone an empty conference is going to help business.

If things were this bare when i started playing, i would not still be around. Just a sad sight considering what DIV III used to be.

if you want some DIII excitement check out wooden! we're not close to full, but got a solid group of coaches there (i think we're at around 140 coaches). even got four "BCS" conferences that are always full. tons of rivalries and the coaches corners are all very active.

reserve a team today! they're going fast! (only like 200 )

Don't grab a team blindly if it's important to you to be in a relatively full conference, as a lot of them are pretty empty. The ASC in Wooden had 8 humans this season, so it's one to consider. I'm sure others will give you other options.

i'll put out my usual Wooden recruitment thread about half way through the season. but might as well push it early too . . . .

last go around we had a nice influx of coaches into two conferences. . . the Little East and the American Southwest. They both have 8 coaches and are looking to compete with the four BCS conferences in a couple season. Would love to fill em up!! Here's the teams available in each conference. . .

Little East:
Bridgewater St.
Massachusetts Liberal Arts
Framingham St.
Fitchburg St.

ASC:
Howard Payne
Texas Lutheran
Mary Hardin-Baylor
Schreiner

you can reserve a team right now, do it, do it, do it.

join the IIAC in wooden, we've got just three guys, but we're all committed to raising the prestige of the conference and we have plenty of convo, banter, and trash talk. easier to get started in than one of those really tough conf's too

Some new features that I would like to see having nothing to do with the SIM engine are:

1) Ability to search for conferences by number of human coaches.

2) Ability to see the number of years each of those coaches have been in their respective leagues.

3) Ability to view the Coaches Corner for conferences you are considering. Not only for this year, but for previous years. With these capabilities you could quickly find and get a feeling for the better DIII conferences.

We need to face the fact that we don't have enough coaches to fill DIII right now. By placing new coaches in conferences that are nearly full, they can still have that rich, human playing experience. With luck they will tell their friends and more will join.

As it stands right now, the process of finding teams in active conferences is painful. Conferences are to recruit coaches.

On the SIM side, if the engine could be tweaked so that it stops recruiting classes of 7, 8, 9 it would help the game as well. The SIM managed teams make it so taking over some programs is so painful that no new coach wants to, and if they do will likely not stick around.

Just my, like 27 cents worth.

There's no reason why everyone who wants to play D3 wouldn't just join Wooden.

There is no reason we can't get more people in D3 across the board.

Also I feel like he is making a statement that when he started playing he wanted real players and then move up in divisions not stick just with D3 which you would do in Wooden.

I to find that if someone joins for a season or two and its completely empty they lose the whole point of the game once you get to D2. Its more of stepping stone to have to play the SIMAI and pay for it now as opposed to getting a team for 4-5 years at D3 than moving up to D2.

This is the only experience for the new coach of a D2 A+ level school.

Season 22: Ozarks #4
29-5 (overall)/16-0 (conf), RPI: 11

Regular Season Conference Champion
Conference Tournament Champion
National Tournament - Final Four
Conference Coach of the Year

Since when would a coach who has no other teams in other worlds and only has 1 year under his belt from a stacked team get the #1 job in D2? Sorry just a tangent but personally I think D2 should be more like D1 and make you come in at the lower level, or at least at no higher level than a B so it forces you to actually build a team. Right now even if he sucks at HD, not saying he does, he will always be a Top 25 team.
