I just took over Oklahoma this season and am in the process of rebuilding. With five new players and in a tough conference, I don't expect us to win more than 12-15 games this season.
My best player is a SR PG. He is pretty much capped out in all of his key ratings (99 is SPD, ATH, DEF, BH, PASS; 96 in PER). I expect that we'll be better next year as the new players gain experience; however my PG will be gone by then-- essentially being wasted as the best player on a mediocre team.
So, I was wondering if it might have been a good idea to RS him. Sure, his WE would have dropped dramatically (its an 85 now), but given his rating, its not like he was going to improve much anyway. We would definitely be a worse team, but as noted above, its unlikely that we'll make the post-season with him anyway. Now, having him next season would have made a big difference when the rest of the team would be much more competitive around him.
The season has already started, so this ship has sailed, but I was wondering if anyone else had tried this? Also, I was wondering if there might be something built in to stop it (e.g. player might quit the team rather than RS).
Thoughts?
