Opinions of Limit 6 Rule Topic

Hey guys, I just got back in the game and am curious when the limit 6 rule was included and how you all feel about it. Thank you in advance.

maybe a year ago or so? I like it. Eliminates those gimmick 12 senior teams from dominating at D3. Really has very little affect on most 'normal' teams. I have 6 open scholarships this year, and because I have a RS freshman, I have to find one juco, but that isn't a big deal.

What limit 6 rule? It's easy to have >6 in a class.

I guess it is possible to have teams with 8 seniors by RS sophs and juniors. It is just harder to do now. Which is a good thing, as Staten Island proves, at D3, having 8 seniors is pretty tough to stop.

I understand it, but dislike it. Primarily dislike has to do with Sim recruiting. Sims can still exceed the max 6 class rule. You can argue that Sims usually have less than stellar quality players so even with 8 or 10 SR's it doesn't help too much. But there is no upside since you are either playing against (potentially) 6+ Srs or a human could take over a team with, say, 10 players in one class and it can either put them at an unfair advantage or limit them when trying to rebuild a bad team. I'm in my first season with one team that is the latter. There was 9 players in the same JR class and nearly all of them were too slow for their positions and not really fantastic players. Since the team was crap the best way to get out of D- prestige to me was to add a couple JC guys that fit my system. But to even be able to recruit one guy I had to cut 4 guys from that JR class.

I wish they would have it as it was but make it harder to keep players happy if they werent getting the PT they wanted for their class year. Essentially more transfers towards their Jr and Sr years.

It had to be done. D3 was pretty much run by super classes before the rule was introduced. And having people leave if they dont get enough time wouldnt work. A lot of the super classes had 10 guys getting like 20 minutes.

You can run a super class with 6 juniors and 6 seniors. Since potential was added, I don't really see much of a difference than having 12 seniors on the team.

Then it is obvious that you were not around back in my hey day, Wizard. There is a difference between 6 SR/JR and 10 SR's. A difference large enough to make your team unstoppable in every way imagineable.

Eliminate the rule and let me bring back the terror.

Viva ls superclass!

The superclasses were awesome and I hated them with a passion. LOL

I never really recall losing to one. But way back when, both my son and I recruited one in different worlds, I was in d2 at the time, their senior season, both won NT's. IQ does not seem to play as large of role today as it did then, hence, I think they are slightly less effective, even the hybrid versions one could run today.

sims should not be allowed to have superclasses either, for diff reasons though, most human coaches don't want to take on 9 or 10 man soph classes, which keeps them from rebuilding for almost 3 seasons. then, when they finally can recruit, they have to take on walkons, and then almost are forced to have a real unbalanced team for pretty long.

its good and necessary

No doubt it was a good and necessary change.

Anyone who thinks that it gives sims some kind of "unfair advantage" over humans ... come on, it's a sim. You should be able to beat them. But OR brings up a solid point in that it does make the team less attractive to potential human coaches.

I certainly see no reason why they couldn't tweak this, although I think it's extraordinarily low on the priority list.

definitely good... its way too easy to win with one.

Most players reach full potential or close to it, during their junior season. Only difference is about 1/2 point in IQ.

I was around back in the day of your super classes, I most certainly do remember. But you didn't read what I said, unless I was speaking another language, which I sometimes do. I agree it was a major difference back then, just not nearly as much now.
