Recruiting service at DIII level Topic

I'm a new coach. Is the recruiting service helpful at the DIII level or is that just for DI schools? Thanks.

definitely helpful. you should never sign a guy without seeing his potential first!

what is the average cost per state?
12/13/2009 10:31 PM
the cost is dependent upon the number of recruits in that state (the bad part of it is, all levels count for the total). In other words, there may only be 10-12 DIII recruits in a smaller state, but you still have to pay for all the recruits (DI and DII in that state as well). The minimum is $200 for states like Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire. etc) and I believe gets up to over $1,000 for states like Texas, California

looking at the current FSS in Knight, California has 208 recruits and costs $1,352. Florida with 117 recruits is $760. but remember that number includes all the divisions, not just DIII for you

DIII is tough with FSS. you really have to develop a good strategy. Its quite expensive relative to your budget, but the information is priceless.

Strategy all depends upon where you are located.

you are in California, that is going to be expensive. recruit locally until you can get a feel for recruiting. if you have any questions, you can sitemail them

My DIII school is in California. I have 5 roster spots to fill and a recruiting budget of $15,000. Do you think that $1,000 would be well spent?

Thanks.

with five spots $1k will be money well spent.

with 5 spots, yes. just be careful and try and avoid battles. that will keep your costs down

sorry to bother you again, but I checked and the cost of recruiting CA right now is $1,870. Again, I have a $15,000 budget. Should I go ahead and get the service now before recruiting starts?

Its up to you and is part of your plan. I often search based on ratings and see who gives me the back up message. If there are multiple in 1 state I buy that state, then look at others to see if any lower rated players have good potential. As recruiting advances and players sign, states become cheaper to buy.

its his first time. i gotta say yes.

better to buy it now. take a few days looking at recruits and ratings (hi-pot and low-pot). Its a great way to learn.

Better than waiting till recruiting starts and learning on the fly and having one cycle to make your decisions.

anyway, for a first timer, i recommend buying it now and playing around for a few days.
