Moving from DIII to DII - HELP! Topic

I'm making a move up in division, and was wondering what the main important differences were. Is it basically the same in theory? What rules are different, especially re: recruiting and game strategy? Any and all thoughts are welcome!

D2 is very similar to D3....dropdowns are key, but battles are a little bit more common (more money around) and of course, the competition is a little smarter. Recruiting tends to be a bit more local (going over 350-360 miles is harder).

Fletch, try to identify someone who's doing it right. I tried to copy a couple guys in my conference (GNWAC), and learn from them. If you are going to run the triangle, look at the cores of the recruits those better coaches go after.

I love the triangle, but I couldn't figure out how to recruit for it. I'm about halfway through converting ASU to the flex because I feel like I can find flex/FCP players.

It took about 3-4 seasons in DII for the light to "go on" for me. Try to schedule similar RPI schools in OOC, don't look to far up or down. Gameplanning and tempo make a difference when you run into guys like reinsel - who are good recruiters and game-planners.

Also... enjoy DII, in a lot of ways its more fun!
