How many games into a season do I need to wait before promoting a player from aaa to majors and not have the season count towards when he is eligible for arbitration and free agency

He needs to be on an active minor league roster for no less than 20 consecutive days.

My rule of thumb . . . if your minor league season starts on Monday with the AM cycle, do your promotions the following Monday after the AM cycle. You might be late by a day or two, but it simplifies the thought process by taking the math out of the equation.

It's after 20 minor league days. Just look at the day your first minor league game is played. Count 20 days after that. After that 20th day, call him up and you'll be fine. I'm not sure why there's any question here.
