Fielding for Pitchers Topic

OK, there are definitely some aspects of the game that I don't pay particularly close attention to. One of these aspects is the fielding of pitchers. What brought this to my attention was recently seeing one of my pitchers on the "leaderboard" with a .667 fielding percentage. So I took a closer look at the guy.

In 121.2 innings at P, he made 2 PO and recorded 0 Assists. He had one error, which led to his .667 fielding percentage, but that's not what struck me. It was the 0 assists. He has *some* range (44) and a "positive" GB/FB ration (68), and yet in 121.2 innings, he had (at most) one GB up the middle he could get a glove on (maybe none, depending on whether the error was a GB or a popup or something else).

Another pitcher on the same team with a 24 range and a 77 GB/FB also recorded 0 assists in 108.2 innings.

Is this common? Is there another rating I should look at that might explain the complete lack of plays by these pitchers?

The major league record is 227 for a pitcher. I don't see that as being in danger.

Interesting; where'd you get that info from?

In HBD, there seem to be only a handful of pitchers who have a chance at 227 for a career.

In my 3 current Worlds, the most in a single season are 23 (Major Leagues), 26 (Kinsella), and 20 (Metropolis).

Career leaders are 34 in Metropolis through 2 seasons; 115 in Major Leagues through 9 seasons; and 113 in Kinsella through 9 seasons.

Clearly HBD doesn't have enough assists from the Pitcher. I wonder what position is getting more than in real life or if the total is just too low.

Last year Mark Buehrle lead the AL with 41. It looks like the average is around 15.
