Just noticed that one of my prospects has an odd projection that I've never seen before.

His current pitch #5 is at zero, but is projected to be 25. Has anyone ever seen this before? What are the odds he picks up that 5th pitch?

It means he had a 5th pitch when he was first drafted but dropped it before the end of last season. It won't show up in his ratings because the game only shows historical ratings starting with a player's first spring training. The fact that his 5th pitch stays in his projections is just a minor glitch in the programming, but the odds of him actually developing it are 0%.

He was drafted in S7, and at that time he did have a 5th pitch (projected to 25), but it was such a bad pitch that he dropped it some time during S7. So by S8 Spring Training, when his first ratings are recorded on the player card, his pitch 5 rates "0". He will not add a 5th pitch. He dropped the 5th pitch. But he will probably be a better pitcher because he dropped that crappy pitch.

That makes more sense. I've never noticed a pitcher of mine dropping one of their crappy pitches and didn't know of that projection glitch so thanks prez. And if what has been said in dev chats is true then I agree with you gjello that he'll be a better pitcher for dropping that.
