Stamina in WIS, is it realistic? Topic

A lot of great CBB teams have 7-8 man rotations. The Florida teams had a legit 7 man rotation in '06 and '07. I don't see this having much if any success in WIS because players' performance goes down so much if they play 35+ minutes. Seems like you need to go at LEAST 8 deep if not 10 deep to be successful in WIS.

Thoughts?

Agreed.

Though, what with potential and guys maxing out by their junior year, I've been wondering...

Might it be possible to carry only 8 or 9 guys - using the extra $ to get uber recruits - and play slowdown and zone? Yes, the players will develop slower because of walkons but they will also be playing VERY large minutes which would help development. Anyways, they would probably still max out before they're out of school.

I've seen some carrying ten. . .

If you wanted to go with a 7 man rotation, you would have to do it with 5 freshmen set to mopup. Sophs and Juniors demand playing time and become very upset if they don't get it. Even still I'm not sure it would work like you want it to because of the way WIS rotates players in and out of the game. The fatigue settings for backup players are virtually meaningless because as soon as the starter is rested, he is put right back into the game. This could mean a lot of players will play significant minutes out of position. I agree with jenningss that if you were to do it, it would almost have to be with a slowdown offense and Zone defense.

Personally don't know if it would be worth it, with all the players improving slower it would be interesting to see if it would work.

Caution: Even if you find it works, with a new engine for HD in development you would have to take the risk of trying it again no matter what happens this time.
