You're coming off an NT and a Final 4. I'm not surprised at all that you're a longshot for a B prestige BCS school. Plus, to me Longshot is a lot closer to Not Qualified than it is to Qualified.

Just won back-to-back NT's in D2 Knight......was Qualified for all D1 jobs except 3, including programs in the Big 6.....would've jumped except my loyalty was only a B+....

Maddyjack no worries my 6 freshman team is coming for you this year! haha, just got back to knight this season and see you have dominated D2 lately.

I've jumped from D2 to a BCS school before, but never anything approaching UNC.

I jumped to Texas directly from D2 but that had a lot more to do with the prior coach driving Texas down to a C- prestige than anything else.

minven, "not surprised" is a reflection of what you've come to expect from HD. Whether it makes sense or not is a totally different story, and no, I do not think it should be possible to jump from DII to UNC, even if they're down.

I was eligible for some really nice jobs jumping from DII Naismith, but nothing as elite as UNC. And I thought even what I was qualified for was excessive.

is this d2 to elite or all but 3 schools qualified a change - if so, any ideas when did it occur?

I've had seasons in both Naismith and Smith where I've been qualified for every DI opening, it depends on the quality of the schools open. I also know that it is quite easy to jump from DII to a BCS school if you've had enough success.

My point was more that it seems insane that one of the schools with the highest baseline prestige out there would even think to hire somebody without DI experience.
