What type of role does it play when moving up a division? Lets say someone with a B rep, and someone with an A apply for the same job at D2

Ones record is: 2 Seasons, 2 NT appearances, both times to the second round, 2 conferene titles. This is the one with the B rep

The other: 1 Season, 1 NT appearance, only made first round, didn't win the conference. He has the A rep.

Who do you think would get the job? Or is it going to be a random selection?

Q: What do schools look for when they are hiring coaches? How can I move up?
A: When you browse the list of job openings, each one will have a brief bit of advice from your agent, which will give you an indication of whether that job is in your range of possible destinations. There are multiple factors that a school uses to decide whether to accept your application, including but not limited to (and not necessarily in this order):
Overall Experience
Recent Success (primarily over the past 4 seasons)
Reputation
Loyalty

Although from what I have read and heard that Experience and Recent Success are more important. Also, how deep of runs were the NTs and what were the overall records of the two teams.

I read that as well in the FAQ, I was just curious how big of an impact the lower rep has. Hopefully experience/success will give me the job over my friend :P

If you find a job you really want and your agent says your what they are looking for just throw your name in the hat, worst thing that will happen is you will get rejected. (You do have 4 job applications after all)

Between an A and B rep? Probably coach A. Heck, he might even get it with lower, but it it also has to do with the base prestige of the school being applied to as well (higher professional expectations) and the loyalty ratings of the two coaches (of which coach A would also be ahead).
