They're not awful (well, Lee is against RHP) but typically you should be able to find a somewhat better FA in Spring Training.

Thanks dedelman....who would you go with?

Lee can play against ies but I wouldn't let him anywhere near a right handed pitcher. I'm guessing santana isn't the answer either. You could platoon them but I'm guessing you can upgrade over santana against rhp.

I'd play Lee, because at least you'll get decent D. He'll hit LHPs well enough but struggle against RHPs. He'd be better in a platoon.

Plus, Santana's a hypochondriac.

If you just have to call one of them up, I would go with Santana. They are going to give you fairly equal numbers, but Lee still has some growing to do and as a platoon he is going to miss some quality AB's. Santana is fully developed and his arb clock has already started.

IMO, Lee is more valuable for his ability to play multiple positions. I wouldn't start him for certain, but he can definitely serve as an occasional platoon guy vs ies.

Santana will probably hit for a better average, and has some speed.

If you're looking for anything more than a bottom of the order bat, keep looking......
