Which of these guys is the best 1B prospect? Both in AAA right now with a couple of years experience there.

If you aren't trying to win this season, or if for some reason you have to play replacement value players at 1B and need to go cheap there, Duran isn't a total disaster vs LHP for the minimum, and same with Cordero vs RHP. Neither will ever be any better than the borderline major league each is now.

In theory, Cordero is the better prospect, because you'll face more RHPs than LHPs. If he were a better baserunner, he'd be a nice #2 hitter. As is, you can stick him in the back of your lineup and have a slightly below-average hitter (for the position).

Based on the fact that they are both over 6 year pros and ratings have improved little in the past 2 years, It would be very doubtful to see much or any improvement from either.

Since neither of these guys are very good, I'd be cautious with the trade - is someone trying to dump salary on you?

In a platoon, they would probably be OK, but both players are pretty much replaceable.

I'd probably prefer Duran as he's a switch hitter and will be OK defensively at 1b.

As has been said, neither will reach those projections. I like Cordero a little better because of better BE, Contact and vR. Duran's better might get hi an extra point or 2 towards his projection. But neither are anything more than average to below average at the position. If you can trade one for 3, I'd do it, unless you're taking on old or high salaried/bad contract players.
