If it's in season and you are number one on the waiver wire, are you automatically guaranteed to get the player you put the claim on?

Yes, unless you are so far into the season that the player being claimed could be on revocable waivers.

Even with a number one priority, you might not get the player if his contract puts you over the current season's or a future season's salary cap.
