I was wondering if they have ever thought of making D3 free for those who are paying for another team or two? I know they had freeHD a while back and it caused problems but I am talking about on your same profile.

This is how it works: (in my head)
  • You have 2+ teams your paying for at D1/D2
  • For every 2 teams you have you get 1 free D3 team
  • You can only have that team in a world your not currently in
  • If you stop paying for your D1/D2 schools you lose your free D3 school
  • Your free team wouldn't earn any rewards points though it would just be for fun and to fill up D3 a little more

Just wondering if this would fill up D3 more again and give new users some people to communicate with. I remember joining originally back in 2004/5 when this was still pretty new and it was great to have a conference in D3 when you started of 8+ guys.

I think players now when they start will play through a season at D3 and find it kinda boring just playing the SIMAI even if they win the conference and then just quit, since most people will just do the 1 season special rate.

Whats everyone else's thoughts on this?

Heck, even if you gave it to us at a discount...

Ya that would be nice but don't know if it would compel me to be at D3 level though after a season or two since its so dead. Free and I am sold.

When there was previously free D3, some coaches were signing up for a D3 team but using the recruiting money to scout for their other team.

The last time we had free D3 in Iba, I counted 61 teams, all "new coaches", that didn't recruit at all.

With aliases, it'd be difficult to know if it's really a new coach, or just a scouting spy. As long as we have the scouting service, I don't think your idea is feasible.

Alblack did you even read what I wrote?

I said that it would not be in the same world that you already have and you would have to have 2 paid teams on your profile at D1/D2 level in order to get 1 D3 team.

Maybe I don't understand...

Under your proposal, I could add a D3 team to my alblack account in Tark, where I don't have a team. But I already have a Tark team with a different alias.

So, couldn't I use the new alblack team to benefit my existing team?

Well realistically doesn't this already happen then? If you have another alias I am assuming your in the same world probably sometime?

You can't stop people from having two aliases and having teams in the same world. Even right now I assume people have multiple teams in the same world. This is strictly for D3 though so even if you invest in FSS it wont be much and that could be dealt with a ban of you free team.

wis didnt want vets keeping d3 teams which they perceived to keep newbs from succeeding and thus getting discouraged and quitting.

simply put, wis doesnt like vet coaches in d3, wis wants this game to be D1 Hoops Dynasty

ya I understand what they are saying, just seems like with D3 so dead they will loose people more than if they were challenged. good point though vandy

DIII is dead because of lack of new coaches flowing into the game at the entrance level, and lack of motivation for existing coaches to stay at the lower levels for very long.

If you want to fix DIII you gota address those 2 items, pretty simple, anything else is a short-term band-aid.

I loved having older coaches in DIV III. You learned a lot from them and it keeps new guys interested when they see other's playing. The way Div III is now, i'd be amazed to see WIS actually gain and keep new people.

The only reasons i played and kept playing was

1. Free season got me interested so i tried it out.

2. Div III had plenty of coaches so i knew others were committed to the game to

3. Vet coaches helped new guys a lot.

The way it is now you'll just play some games against sim and think, this is boring. I have noone to talk to, i don't know what i am doing, and i have to pay just to see if it's worth it which eventually leads to i paid for this?
