Will a player always commit? Topic

There are 2 examples I'm wondering about.

1. You don't start recruiting a guy until the 2nd to last cycle of recruiting and you do the bear minimum to get on his list, will he always commit during that last cycle?

2. Two schools are battling for a guy school A has a big lead but for whatever reason that school withdraws it's scholarship offer and while still behind school B runs out of money, will the player eventually commit to school B or is there a chance he'll go JUCO?

It's always been my understanding that there are 2 different thresholds. One is the minimum to be listed by the player and the other is the amount necessary for the player to sign. Once signings begin, the amount necessary to sign the player will drop. That explains why even if you are the only school listed it sometimes takes several cycles for the player to sign. I am pretty sure that all players considering a school will eventually sign but I'm not 100% on it.

I agree. D2 ineligibles may sign but, after recruiting is done, decide to go JUCO instead. I don't have any D1 teams but i assume its the same there. I've never seen an ineligible D3 recruit go JUCO, though

In my experience, if the guy is considering only you and you have the schollie offer out, he will sign w. out waiting. The only occasions where I've seen a recruit considering only one school and continue to wait are (1) a human school that didn't have a schollie offer out or (2) a sim.

As for #2, yes, that player would eventually sign w. Team B.

al, players are always eligible right away at DIII, so there is no chance they will go juco.

always key to be sure that you have a schollie on the table if you want him to sign

I think that recruits will wait - or will often wait - one cycle after they start considering a school before signing

Yea a recruit has to be considering you for at least 1 cycle before they can sign so you cant just pick of someone elses recruit without them having a chance to respond.

Thanks guys. I was just curious because in Tark right now I was "very tight" with a recruit but then a better player at his position fell into my lap so I withdrew the scholarship offer and he kept me on his list and another school went after him. I was pretty sure eventually that school would get him but I was just wondering what if he never takes the lead. I'm still not sure he ever actually took the lead because I didn't fall off the recruits list until I filled up all my scholarships.

so if he's already considering you but you haven't offered a scholarship, will he sign in the cycle that you offer it to him, or does he need to wait another cycle once the scholly is offered?
