Moonlight Graham just completed a full season under the recent change. We've done pretty well in controlling crazy offensive numbers over the years. Here's what we finished with this season. Do what you want with the numbers. The averages are from the 10 previous seasons.

interesting. the homerun drop is pretty drastic. i thought alot of these homeruns were supposed to now be doubles, triples? your 2b and 3b amounts seem to be on par with what you've had in the past in MG so that doesnt seem it was the case for you. that looks like it's also reflected in the slg% being significantly lower.

looks like alot of those old homeruns that were now supposed to be 2bs and 3bs are, instead, singles. that, if correct, is major.

or maybe just about every owner in your world dropped those 30 contact, 95 power, 40/40 splits guys who used to have those 240 averages with 40+ homeruns, knowing that those players one strength had been reduced?

No, I looked at some individual players, which is really "risky" due to SSS, and the guys who didn't hit homers remained steady with their 2B/3B. It certainly appears, with the SSS I looked at, that homers simply became singles.

That said, the best power hitters are still the guys with the highest POWER ratings. They still hit the most homers.

wonder if they'll make another adjustment to the engine to get their originally intended result. granted, this is just a snapshot of one world but i would bet we'd find similar results in just about every other world.

I tried one of those "old school" studs in Hamilton. His ratings:

3 homers. These types are pretty much useless now.

I'm not sure this wasn't their intended result. The numbers we produced this year are pretty much in line with 2009 MLB.

right, which i think is a good thing. but, in the past, some of those low split, low contact, high power guys would muscle their way onto that list. like this guy from my Fargo team in The Bigs:

Ricardo Martinez

you can see the effect the update had on him (rightfully so, those ratings have no business in producing a 639 slg%). notice he hit fewer doubles in 200+ more at bats though.

Yeah, as I said, those guys are pretty much useless now. Maybe that wasn't the intended effect but the league average and individual player numbers seem in line with MLB now.

50 homers will once again be an accomplishment.

havent looked so ill take your word for it. im sure i read admin somewhere (dev chat or a post) saying the "lost homeruns" would turn into doubles and triples. if that were to be the case, i wouldnt have expected your world's slg% to drop so much.

or maybe they never said that and im hallucinating. woudnt be the first time.

Well, Mike. Your league came up right about where Mattingly did after one year under the new update. About 50-60 HRs per team shy of previous seasons.
