We just rolled, and I noticed that my team now has 45 people on the 40 man roster, and I only had 40 when we rolled. I had one guy on the 60 day DL, but he was the only player being "hidden" that way. Anyone have any idea why more players would have been added to my 40-man?

No.

Any IFA signed to BL deals?

Perhaps some 60-day DL stints expired during the offseason.

Happens to me routinely, and 45 is about the usual number. Never have figured out why. Above 2 suggestions probably account for one or two but not all.

Like I said, I only had one guy on the 60-day DL. I had a couple IFAs signed to ML deals, but I had pulled them off the 40-man, and they are still not on the 40-man. Another owner in my league is at 51 (!) people on the 40-man. A number of players were added to his 40-man, including a couple draft picks from two seasons ago that signed minor league deals and had never been on the 40 before. It's very odd.

I'm pretty sure the IFA signed to BL deals are counting. I think that loophole was closed.

There has been some "noise" occuring durning rollover lately, perhaps there might be a bug somewhere. I have noticed that the last few times I have had a team rollover, all of the settings in the Management Console were screwed up. This has happened more than once, and I've heard it from quite a few other owners as well. However, when getting the team as a new owner, everything is fine. Is it possible that there is (are) some minor flaw(s) occuring during rollover?

Right now I have 45 guys on my 40-man roster. None of them are IFAs signed to big league deals. One of them ended last season on the 60-day DL. It's perplexing.

I identified one of the players that was added to my 40-man during rollover. As you can see in the transaction part of his card, I removed that guy from the 40-man just before rollover, since he had only 4 years of pro experience and there was no reason to use a 40-man spot on him until the rule 5 draft the following season. For some reason he was readded to the 40-man during rollover. Any idea why this is happening?

Not sure that this is the case. I signed this guy to a ML IFA contract during last season but pulled him off the 40-man immediately after signing him. He is still not on the 40-man.

Here is what admin said when I sent in a ticket asking about it:

Any player that is not a Minor League free agent (i.e. does not have 6 years of pro experience) will automatically have their contract renewed (denoted in the player's transaction history in red as "Contract Renewal"). If they have less than 3 option years they are going to want MLB minimum ($54,500) deals that put them on the 40 man roster.

So it sounds like any minor leaguer with less then three options gets readded to the 40-man roster. I guess this is Admin's way of trying to prevent people from adding people and taking them off the 40-man willy nilly.
