pulling down a recruit from D2 Topic

I know it takes scouting trips to do it. Any thoughts on how many (on average)? I'm a D3 school with A+ prestige going after a D2 recruit with overall rating below 440. So far I've thrown out 2 of these scouting trips with no change. He's definitely worth landing but eventually the price may be too much.

I'm sure there's an element of randomness to the whole thing... just wanted some veterans' thoughts as to if this is worth pursuing--and if I'm not going about it the right way.

Thanks!

It's really expensive for a D3 school to pulldown players. I only do it for studs, everyone else I just wait to drop. For the most part it's easy to tell who will drop and who won't.

I'm not sure I agree with kmasonbox. If you recruit within 100 miles, and there is no battle, it probably won't cost more than $2,000 (10 evals + scholarship).

If you get outside a couple hundred miles, I totally agree, though.

So what your saying guys is almost anyone is available for a pulldown as long as you don't have a battle?

So lets say I am D2 and there is a D1 recruit with my B+ team. I see him on the D1 list and send him a letter where he says I am a backup. If I do evals of him and scholarship I can pull him down?

I've never had a problem with it and I almost exclusively pull down at this point. I'm sure someone will say that it's random, and that some guys don't respond, but any time I've been a backup, I've been able to do it.

Even if you battle you should be able to, it will just cost more, obviously.

ah okay, ya I have NEVER pulled someone down. I always wait for them to drop and get them that way. Good to know about this method. I heard about it but never knew how to do it.

You're right, if they're close enough is no big deal. But if there far it's not worth it.

If you get a message saying no shot or move on, can you still pull him down with enough evals?

No

Don't waste your time with these guys. You'll want to focus on guys that say you're a back-up option.
