How did this coach jump from D3 to D1? Topic

I'm not complaining here, but does anyone else find this coach's resume rather odd given what we "know" about the promotion process?:

Seasons 19-22 he was in D-3 with a mediocre resume. He quits and then resumes playing in Season 41 and is qualified for a D1 team. Huh?

*update* I'll just post so people don't have to click:
Seasons 7-10 he was in D3.
Seasons 11-13 he was in D2 with a sub-.500 record and no postseasons.
He quit then resumed in season 19-22 with a D3 school. PIT and one NT appearance.
He quit again and resumed in Season 41 with a D1 school, where he is currently.

Glenville St is a D2 program, so he gets credit for that?

I thought only the last 4 seasons counted on your resume.

I believe they are weighted the most, but overall experience is a factor.

You'll notice that I put a question mark at the end of my sentence. I don't know why it is enough to jump to D1, but he did coach at the D2 level for a while. That is all I am point out.

My only guess is that the changes that took place between seasons 22 and 41 which made it harder to get into D1 didn't affect him.

He didn't have any postseason success so maybe the longevity of his career helped?
I thought you had to win in the NT to get to DI?

Nah not win the NT...I know I could have gotten a D/D- D1 job after making the final four in D3.

It's Nicholls State... not sure if that really is a step up from D2 :p

hell I got fired from Georgia Tech with 647 wins, 30 tournament wins, and a DII national championship and I'm not qualified for a DI job.

Eh, maybe in the old days, and maybe after a large number of years. But after my 5 seasons at D3, including a championship in the 5th year, I wasn't qualified for any D1 jobs.
