Q about guaranteed starting spot Topic

how many starts in a season would you have to give a recruit to whom you promised a starting spot for him to feel like you fulfilled your promise? i know it's not "all of them" and i know it's obviously not "none."

might it change depending on the kid?

I was once told by admin that if you want to be sure, start them every game. Every player is different so they might never complain if you start them 0% or you might get one that complains with starting 80% of the time.

once upon a time, 80% would work all or almost all the time

they fixed that - maybe a year ago

now, one takes a risk if you miss more than maybe a game or two

Piggy backing off of this question, do you have to keep promises once the NT starts? I'm under the impression that players don't complain in the NT.

does promising a starting position all but guarantee the player chooses you if he is on the fence?

It's just another strong component in recruiting effort. Nobody can say "yes" or "no" to that question due to every other recruiting factor being in play.

Yes, they did away with 80%. As of last check I believe it's 90% for both starts and minutes. Example, 18 of 20 starts or 18 of 20 minutes played.

What he's saying is that before if you promised a guy 20 minutes a game as long as he got 16+ minutes a gam he wouldn't complain. Now it's closer to 18+ minutes a game. Not 18 out of 20 games he has to get the minutes you promised him.
