Player C

player A isnt good enough to play SS. i think that kills his value.

Player A, already an adequate SS, good eye, great doubles hitter vRH. 140 games. [Placido Polanco-type?]

Player B, gonna take five years to develop to be a ML 3B/2B, solid hitter, but only for 110 games a year

Wouldn't mind having player A now as a RH platoon at any position, and player B in AA ready to step into 2B in two years.

In fact, I think I'd be pretty sure that unless Player A was an early arb. guy (thereby making big $ soon) and I was dead set on rebuilding, I'd rather him over Player B.

You're kidding, right?

Even his current ratings exceed the recs.

my fault, i read 75 overrall as his range

First of all, no need to look at projections for a 26 yr old. He is all he will ever be.

Player A is a good fielding SS, with an above average bat for someone with his fielding skills. He is potentially an all-star in a world where people aren't using big hitting 3B as a SS.

To make a complete assessment of B, it's necessary to know what the ADV scouting budget is as well as how many years pro he is. With the projections shown, he looks to be an average or slightly above average hitting 2B or potential GG 3B.

Excluding budgetary factors, I would always choose the SS.

Player A in a heartbeat.

Player B will struggle to play 100 games a year.

There is a guy on our draft board.... projected 88 (14 mil scouting) 85 stamina,100 control, 76 LH 94 RH 94 VEL 100 GB/FB/ his 4 pitches 67,67,54,40 and they are projected numbers.....with his velocity..would you not think he would have stronger variety of pitches?
1/21/2010 3:31 PM
Why does velocity play into pitch quality?

I am just going by what I was told in our league....... would he be worth the #1 pick with those 4 pitch ratings?

Well, here's the thing with my 2 guys. I already have both of them. My original plan was that in 4 seasons Player A is eligible for FA at which point I can let him walk and take a comp pick and then I'd already have a cheap, comparable replacement.

But Player A has been tearing the cover off the ball for more than a season now. He is currently my backup 3B, SS, 2B, and CF and he spot starts at all 4 positions.

I value Player B's power and speed (I don't have a lot of speed on my current ML roster). Player B is in his 3rd year and is in HiA. I have $16m Adv scouting.

I'm wondering if I should trade B and sign A longterm? I'm not sure I have enough room on my roster for both, though the way A is playing I might have to try to make room somehow.

No, they are not related.
