I have the choice between two pitchers in a draft. I would copy and paste but this foreign computer I am on isnt formating it at all. All rating below projected.

Pitcher A: Dur/33 HE/80 Stam/80 Con/86 L/77 R/81 V/87 GB 100 P1/97 P2/72 P3/50 P4/40



Pitcher B: Dur/24 HE/89 Stam/68 Con/96 L/84 R/100 V/36 GB/77 P1/77 P2/71 P3/60 P4/70

What pick # do you have? Is it #1 and these are the 2 best?

Pitcher B has the better ratings. Better control, splits and pitches. 77 GB is still very good. Velocity is a non-factor in this case. If all the other ratings were close between A and B, then use velocity as a tiebreaker. That's not the case here.

A will give you more innings. He'll be very good if he hits those numbers. B will give you fewer innings but of higher quality.

Because Pitcher A is pretty solid overall, but not spectacular, and Pitcher B is probably going to be the better pitcher, but his Sta/Dur is a little short for a #1 pick. Also his pitches are not where you'd like to see them. In the end I like player B better. Velocity only seems to matter as far as strikeout rate, I think, so don't freak about B's low Vel.

B will barely have enough stamina for 6 innings even if he reaches his projections, which many never do. If your looking for a durable SP, I'd go with A. His splits are more than good enough and he will have 1 great pitch and 2 useable ones. A has 4 good pitches. His Stamina is his only real concern, but if you'll need a good bullpen. Really don't think you'll go wrong with either guy.

I can't see a scenario where B isn't a better player than A.

You'll have to make sure you have a decent 'pen, but the only thing to quibble about is stamina, otherwise B >>>> A.

Thats what I was going with early on. This draft is the deepest I've seen in this league, but there is really no clear cut number 1. I wish I woulda punted last season and taken the 1st and 4th pick in this draft.

I think player B compares to Derrin O'Shea of my NB Londontowners. Oshea had stamina in the 70's, but even with his stamina in the mid 60's he is throwing 200 innings.

That being said, Player B's current stamina is 48. Is that too big of a gap to reach projection? (My budget is in the high teens).

IF the projections are accurate, I take B over A, no question in my mind.

That's why I would probably take A over B. If B's sta/dur ratings don't get close to projections, you have a reliever.

They are both H/S and my H/S budget is 17.

I think you can get by with an SP with stamina in the 58-62 range, particularly if they're filthy.

Filthy=low pitch count/IP=more IP/start

Another thing to consider is the patience rating. If you plan on staying in the world long term, a high patience guy (70+) will be willing to stay with your team for his entire career at a modest salary (compared to FA rates), provided that you don't arb him three times and WIFS doesn't change the way this is currently working.

Benito Torrealba

He isnt an exact match to pitcher B, but you can get an idea of what your looking at. His stamina only reached 54, and is probably best suited as a reliever, but I can use him in my rotation because I have 4 other starters who can eat innings.

Player B is actually a little better overall - better GB/FB and pitches, so you should expect slightly better stats..

Benito will pitch around 140 innings as a starter and keep his era in the 3's (in a slightly hitters park, with a slightly above average defense).

Yeah I was leaning to him but after this thread I am now sold. If his stamina can reach the low 60's I think he will throw 180-200 innings a year.
