Any chance a juco will accept an "inform of redshirt" at DI? I am thinking a no star or one star?

I've got the same question, but my guy is a 3 star. Any help out there?

it is possible

requires in my experience either

1. lots of effort - a bunch more visits etc than would normally be required to get him to sign - you sort of drown the negative effect of the RS

and/or

2. he is a kid that is well within your range given your prestige and his ability - muich harder with a kid who is a reach for you

I've done it, but don't remember if I used inform of redshirt

is there a chance he'll transfer if you r/s him and he's not happy with it?

Well here is my update. I informed of redshirt during recruting and during the same cycle I gave 10 HV and a CV. He loved me during the visits, but said I was crazy during the redshirt discussion and informed me there was no way that he would sign w/me. Now I informed of non-redshirt, reoffered the scholarship and another CV. We'll see if I can buy him back.
