New international guy. #’s? Topic

Here's my new international signee.

He projects to 34-96-36-43-93. He's close enough on most of those already, that he should get there. He haas a bit of growth to do on power...but he should get close.

Assuming he gets to those #'s in 4 areas and levels off at 90 on power....What kind of MLB production should I get/expect from him down the line?

His poor contact and splits will substantially impact his hitting. He looks like a good AA or fairly good AAA hitter to me, but not a major leaguer. e could get a lot of walks.

Hope he didn't cost you too much.

I have a guy that is 53-98-33-29-58 so much better contact, a little lower splits and much lower eye. This season platooning in the majors he had 200 AB's with 14 HR's, 45 K's and batted .241 with a .297 OBP and .487 SLG.

Especially with power sapped (albeit not as much as before) by WIS, I agree he probably is a AA or AAA guy.

You put him in the bigs as a bench bat or PH vs. RHPs, and he might swat the occasional HR, but he'll probably wind up with a line of .180/.270/.360, or something equally ugly.

Um, not even close.

Albert Brito is this guy, with 7 more VsR and 23 LESS contact. That's an .829 career OPS, and most of it in Portland.

There seems to be, in HBD, some magic to the combo of very high eye and very high power that leads to much better production than you'd expect. In fact, prior to the power reduction of 11/2009 I would have guaranteed that this guy would be an OK ML hitter (although not good enough to really propel you towards a championship given that he has to play 1B). Since the power outage he may be more AAAA-caliber-- but it's more like .250/.340/.450.

On the Wheel of Prospects... that is the bankrupt spot.

We'll see. I've seen several similar guys fail to hit their weight in the majors.

-handed, those numbers, i don't mind him as a cheap 1b option.
