I'll keep a list going here for whatever people want to add.

1. List primary position player played at during their career. (It's silly to see a guy who won 5 gold gloves in CF listed as a 1B. In the end almost every player ends up a 1B or DH.)

2. Include as a statistic the # of Gold Gloves, Silver Sluggers, Cy Youngs, All-Stars, etc. awards a player has won and if possible # of times nominated for an award and where he finished in voting. (If we're going to use that for judging nominations, might as well help people use it to vote.)

3. Include defensive statistics for position players such as +/- plays, fielding percentage, CS% and cERA for their primary position.

Included in this should be the % of runners thrown out trying to steal and perhaps the pitchers ERA stat when evaluating catchers.

in player awards, not only list if a player has won a MVP, cy young or ROY but indicate whether the player was in the top 5 yearly voting. sure winning is great but a player should get recognition if he was up for an award.

i'd appreciate seeing if a player never won one but came in 2nd in voting 3 times and 3rd 2 other times. thats valid information when it comes down to time to cast ballots.

+/- plays should not be included, because the engine has changed a number times over the seasons such that the number of +/- plays have fluctuated greatly. Not sure how useful this would be without context.

I believe patrick recently said that the sim doesn't keep records on who finished 2nd in the MVP race and things like that. I agree that would be very helpful, but I believe currently, once a world rolls over, those records are lost.

Whether they can eventually be recovered somewhere down the road is another story however.

Everything needs context. Perhaps I should add to the list the Park Factor the player played most of his games in. That way we'll know if someone has 200 more homers than the next guy because he played all of his games in SFE.

Anyway, I think it will be good to have once guys start retiring with the current +/- system. But I'd hate to detract from those SSs/CFs that put up good numbers under the old system, similar to how we have the steroid era.

do we not include triples because of the engine change?

It would be kind of silly, everything must be taken in context.
