curious - does a player who is in a final year of a contract change his signing preferences if he's traded? there is a guy who i am considering trading for that tells the other coach he will resign for 2 more years. if i trade for him, will he potentially change his mind and want to enter FA next season?

Not sure. Only worked with "he'll become FA no matter what" and after trade it was the same. Not sure if there is a possibility or not.

I would guess that it only changes when the player's overall rating changes after a trade and he was on the bubble for re-signing.

But it's just a guess.

i'd have the other owner sign him first.

actually the other owner told me just now that he traded for someone before without having the other owner resign him - then when he got him his demands changed (assuming the other owner told him the real demands) - so it's possble the demands change...i had him sign him for me in the end - i just had not heard from him in awhile and was considering accepting the trade jsut to get it done

I have traded for several guys who want to become FA. None have agreed to resign.

Most likely, he lied. He wanted the deal.
