How important is batting eye? Can a really high batting eye +95 make a batter who's vs L and R are in the mid 60's a good batter?

There's nothing wrong with mid-60s splits without a 95 eye.

But he should have a very high OBP.

The high batting eye should help with his OBP and his selection of swinging at good/bad pitches......

Is batting eye more important then contact?

The ratings work in conjunction with one another. And it depends on how your team is built.

If you mentally want to separate out the skills, think of it like this:

When facing a pitcher with low Control, counter with players who have a good Batting Eye to draw the walks.

When facing a pitcher with high Velocity, counter with players who have good Contact so they don't strike out as often.

When facing a pitcher with a low GB rating, counter with players who are high in Power to hit more homeruns.

With all that said however, the best players will have a mixture of the attributes and it's hard to say any attribute is better than another.

all that's been said is true. But if I had the option of selecting a guy with a 60 contact and a 90 batting eye versus a 90 contact and a 60 batting eye, everything else the same I go with the higher batting eye...

I'd take a 90/80/75/75/60 every time over a 60/80/75/75/90. I want the first guy putting the ball in play rather than walking. Which, of course, leads me back to "The ratings work in conjunction with one another."

I'd prefer the 60/80/75/75/90 guy. I believe in base runners and that BAIBP is fluky.

And even if we found two guys with exact mirrored ratings, the competition, ballpark effects and other factors come into play.

There's no right answer here. Other than the hypothetical player is pretty good, either way.
