I gave an offer to a free agent and while he was thinking about it, his asking price went down. What would happen if I withdrew my present offer and offered him his new, lower demand?

happened to me in diamondbacks this season, i withdrew my offer and gave him his new demands, he accepted it next cycle. must be some kind of bug though,they need to fix it
