Will HBD open up any new worlds?

I'd like to have a team from Season 1 forward...

WIS has said that they are not creating any new leagues any time soon.

no reason to open worlds when they're having trouble filling the ones they already have...

i assume if every world is filled up and there are more people looking to play they'll do it, but not until then

Also new worlds aren't the paradise that everyone makes them out to be. Every team will end up starts with 3-4 terrible contracts and quite often the talent by position isn't dispersed well. You could have 3 great 3b but no 2b. Taking over a team in a quality world removes those types o warts.

Maybe not but for the newer people, within' the last year or so, might like to get that new car smell.

Also I don't believe worlds are having trouble finding owners. Sometimes it takes a week or so but they all get filled.

This is true. Which probably means that HBD has, at least for the present point in time, achieved a good state of balance between supply and demand.

Which indicates to me that it would NOT be a good idea to open new worlds right now because then the supply/demand balance would be thrown off.

I have sent a ticket yesterday about that. They told me that no new world would be created for now. They also told me that currently there is no timetable on bringing this option back.

That stinks..

It doesn't stink. New worlds are such a crap-shoot. You might get a team that is full of studs and ready to win a World Series in the first season, or you might get a team full of 40-year-olds making $10M/yr. If you like not knowing what you're getting into, it would be better to just post in the classifieds that you want to take on a team in a world without looking at it.

One big difference is that, in the new world, everyone is in the same boat of not knowing what they're getting into. If you just take a team at random from the classifieds, you don't know what you are getting, but you can be pretty sure there are at least a couple decent owners in the World who have built a well thought out, well designed team - if not an outright powerhouse.

Anyone that says, a new world is a crap shoot blah blah BS is the fact you've been in a new world.

Many haven't. Its good to have that feeling and everyone on par. That's what a new world can do -- it's like Christmas morning.

I'd like to have that feeling again.

Everybody is NOT on par in a new world. Some teams are stacked with ML talent, others are barren.

That Christmas morning feeling can go away pretty quickly when you find a big chunk of coal in your stocking and nothing else under the tree.

from my perspective, I'm in 3 worlds now, I joined them in seasons 5, 8, and 9.

My big worry is whether or not I'll be able to be competitive against teams that have had the same owner for the majority of the league's existence.

It's still too early to tell, but I know I've really got to build up the talent level in 2 of the 3 to be competitive.

Would a new world have been better for me? I don't know, but I've got to think that the playing field would be more even.

Nothings perfect tec. They try and make a good ML team, not so good minors and vice-verse (though it never works 100% like that). Tell me you don't get excited when world fills to find out what you got?

Even if you get clothes, it's still NEW clothes. At this time worlds will always fill.

Whether we are the same number as of now or add 100 more. You always have Mike and his crusade to fix whatever needs fixing.

Everyone isn't on par in terms of ML-ready talent, but everyone does have the same likelihood of getting a lump of coal or the keys to the new sports car. The same cannot be said for any existing World.

You're also ignoring the fact that, in a new World, trades are much much more common for the first season or two. Owners haven't had the opportunity to form any long-term attachments to players, so are more willing to trade based on the ratings instead of feeling. If you are one of those with little ML talent under the tree, there will almost certainly be owners who are in a similar spot and who choose to blow it up completely and build around the 2-3 Low A/High A studs they have. They'll often be looking to shed the salary of (still useful) ML guys who simply have no place in their plans. Pick and choose from those and even if you started with nothing you can often put together a competitive team for little to no talent cost (though with significant payroll cost).

New Worlds aren't the panacea that many owners think them to be, but given the choice between joining a new World and jumping into an established World (where you'll most likely be in a rebuild situation anyway), I'll go New World almost every time.
