DitR update a bust? Topic

Edmonds just had our seasonly Diamonds in the Rough show up, 1 day after an update was supposed to increase there ratings jump a little bit to improve their chances of make an inpact at the ML level.

So how did it work? Terrible! The one DitR I got still won't make it above Low A. In fact, his "new" projected ratings barley even look like they got an increase at all. I know you can't see his projected ratings if I posted a link but trust me, this is one of the worst DitRs I have ever gotten.

Maybe a world has to go through a season rollover before the DitR update works????

maybe you just have to be more patient. The way they worded it didn't make it sound like a major increase in DITR numbers.

I would guess that on average, over multiple seasons you'll generally see an increase.

Yeah, I'm sure the update actually intended for 25th round picks and unsigned FA to suddenly become HOF players.

When you say "The one DITR" - do you actually mean ONE player or one DITR cycle? If you mean one player... uh... If you mean one cycle of DITRs, that is more helpful to see.

Then again, most DITRs have always bumped a guy just a little bit, and I would expect that the majority of really useless prospects who get a DITR are now just useless instead of really useless. I would expect no more than a handful to get DITRs that turn them into ML players, and then again, I wouldn't expect them to be 70 across the board guys

Well, I don't think they intended to increase the "frequency" of trash becoming BL talent. Im sure the intent was that the occasional DitR that you get that goes from being a LoA projection to AAA, might turn into a BL.

"Diamonds in the Rough have been increased by a few ratings points allowing for more players to contribute at the ML level than were previously allowed." - per patricks post

Hence a a guy with an overall projection of 40, might improve to 43 meaning insetad of being rookie league talent he improves to LoA. Whereas that AAA projection of 69 might turn into a 72 and improve in enough categories to contribute at the ML level.

I do think there should be Albert Pujolses and Mike Piazzas every once in a while, but they should be about as rare as actual diamonds. As for the 99% of the other crappy minor leaguers, I'm fine having them only increase a few more points as long as too many of them don't end up becoming awesome major leaguers.

I'm curious if those crappy pitcher, who end up DITR's (you know the ones where stamina, control and pitches improve but the 19/17 splits don't) get a better bump.
2/25/2010 9:25 AM
If its random, I would take that to mean random categories get that bump (within related categories). So pitchers get random bumps in the pitching categories and likewise with position players. I mean if we are only giving a player a bump of a few points overall, how many categories can you really improve before that small bump = large bump.

My pitching DITR's, the splits seem to always NOT improve. That's not random, that's thought out.

Well that just WIS hating you...better luck next time

I'm patient, been waiting a long time.

oh my god is this guy serious?

sample size, sample size...1 player does not make a good sample size

You did see how everyone freaked out when they changed the "top-end of HRs right"

"Sample size" is not a phrase known to the masses
