Is being a first round of the playoffs runner-up the only way to earn a $4 credit in HBD?

Nope. If you finish last in your division you also get a $4 credit. Just to elaborate, if you get 3rd place in your division and don't make the playoffs I believe you get a $1 credit. It could be $2 but I am pretty sure it is $1. It is a joke, I know. You shouldn't get anything for not making the playoffs. Promotes tanking in my opinion.

Not that I should complain, because it seems I received a $4 credit and I was last in my division. What is the reason for this reward?

The stupidest part is that although you receive $4 for last place, you get $0 if you finish second and don't make the playoffs.........

Good point. Perhaps it's an incentive to get owners to pick up franchises that may be in poor shape.

Isn't the objective of picking up a franchise that's in bad shape to NOT finish in 4th again?

My proposal in the other thread:

Get rid of the $4 fourth place credit and the $1 third place credit, and replace them with a $2 credit for finishing over .500 but not making the playoffs.

Or just add it on to what the 2 World Series teams get so you get more than just a free team or some extra points...You would have an extra $40 to work with.

The idea is to spread the wealth not make the rich richer. tec's idea is actually the best for encouraging owners to compete rather than accept that 4th place finish and the $4 credit.

Personally, I think that the WS winner should get at least enough reward points to purchase two more seasons. From there I'd say the WS runner up gets the same $25 credit, the LCS runners up should get a $10 credit, the DCS should get a $7 credit, and the division champ should get $5 credit. Then, anyone who misses the playoffs, but is over .500 should get a $3 credit (that Idea I read somewhere else and don't feel like looking it up now, but I want to admit that the last part isn't my idea).

Probably not the greatest idea, but it seems pretty fair to me.

Lump it all together, give it to the WS winner.

The rest go into a Roman style battle with lions, with only one emerging to play next season.
