I'm not sure why this change "allows" them to remove the limitation they had previously imposed on DII/DIII. It seems to me it just prevents people from getting Amazon gift certificates (or whatever) for anything less than a title game run.

Also, what about those of us with points already? I think I have 1700 or so--can I convert those to game credit or are they basically useless unless I make the national title game? (In which case, they are useless.)

why would any points you already have be any different than they were?

Well, a five pack costs 9000 points. If you are sitting on 7800 points...you'd be very close to getting to 9000 points and being able to cash in for a 5-pack. But if the only way to get more points is a FF or National Title, those 7800 points are essentially worthless. Before a post season or two would get you to the 9000 whereas now you'd be starting over trying to get to $59.00 or whatever it costs making your previous seasons worthless.

just convert the points to a gift certificate and use that for credits towards a new 5 pack...not ideal I guess, but far from worthless...

ETA: you can get a $50 GC for 7500 points...

as dacj says, we have long been able to convert lesser points to a gift cert - for yourself or someone else - there are SOME minimum denoms so some small amounts of reward points over.....

i've done this often in the past - to turn points into $ when I needed new seasons but didnt have enough for fully free seasons

The only GC showing in the store is the $25 Amazon. I'm in the boat where I have 7350 points, and would probably have been able to get a 5 pack after the reward points kicked in for my D1 and D2 teams. But now I'm going to get cash and won't be able to buy anything. I mean the new system is great, but it just sucks for those of us who already have a bunch of points. I guess it's not the end of the world, I'll just buy 3 single seasons.

Go to WIS at the top of this page. Click on 'gift certificate'. You'll be given the option of using reward points.

You can also see it at the Rewards page but it's not as easy. I think you have to click on 'other WIS stuff' (or something similar) to see it

I sent in a ticket with a recommendation about the over reward points: pasted below

What about once all the worlds roll into the new system offering the option of converting any existing reward points directly to credits at the GC rate of 150 points per dollar so that we don't get stuck with earned but unusable reward points? I currently have 300 points that I am not terribly likely to be able to use (I have never sniffed a championship game, and even if I never do I love HD) - I would be able to convert my points to a $2 credit to be used to help pay for seasons...

*standing ovation*

I just saw the 3/10 date, and assumed it said the system went into affect today rather than it goes into affect for worlds that have a signup date of today or later. So my whole post is moot for myself at least, the 3 worlds that I'm should be enough to push me over the 9k mark.

Has "expire after one year" always been a part of the prizing system? If not, that's a significant change. If it has, that would have been a handy piece of information that I didn't know about before. I wonder how many points I've lost because of that. Whether it's new or not, they should have some sort of warning for points about to expire in the next, say, 30 days.
