Tempo against the press? Topic

I am playing a NT game soon and was wondering what is the general consensus for the best tempo against the press? My team really isnt that fast but my opponent isnt that much faster. Should i go slowdown or go normal tempo?

I would try to make them pay by running uptempo. My teams haven't fared well trying to run slowdown, always resulted in too many TO's. Also, running uptempo will tire out the opponent, since they will be pressing more often.

I agree, I usually run uptempo against the press, and I have won more than if I would have slowed it down.

I dont think there is a generic answer

I would look at first

1. which team is better - if it is close, move to question 2 but if my team is a lot stronger I would go fast and if my team is clearly weaker I would go slow which generally increases the chances of an upset

2. which team has better depth - in terms of talent AND iq - if you have an edge in depth go fast - this can be - I think especially effective against a press team - if they only are 7 deep but press and you go fast and there are more possessions and they therefore go deeper and have to play guys with low press IQ the press will not work well

In an all things being equal setting, I think uptempo works best. I think it gives more chances to shoot before the double team gets there.

if they are significantly faster, you should really avoid uptempo. especially at the 1-3.

If im way over matched I prefer to up the 3's and uptempo. But if were pretty even I stay normal
