1B defense analysis... Topic

I played this guy at 1B with nice offense production but his defense annoyed me obviously, as I knew going in it would...
Ruben Campos

Last season my staff was one of the best in the league (era wise we were tops) and defensively we were solid coming in with the 3rd fewest errors. He was really the only weak player defensively and one of the few bright spots on a rough offensive year...

Would you rather have Campos or a guy like this at 1B
Glenn Meadows
Who could possibly brought in...

I would like better defense but I like Campos health, makeup, and youth more...hmmm

Not much difference in age. Meadows isn't a disaster on the base paths like Campos. Campos' makeup is only 25 points better, and their health ratings are similar enough to consider a wash. Campos is a switch hitter and has a better y split. However, both have poor DUR ratings, so you can sit Meadows against ies a bit. I guess you're not in the AL, because Campos looks like a pretty good DH.

Yeah NL...Notice though Meadows has started a decline though...Campos is probably 4 years from starting since he's been sitting pretty with 20m in training...

I would add Meadows and have them split time. Campos is better vL but they are pretty much a wash vR. The games that Campos does play vR you can bring in Meadows as a defensive replacement if you want. Another alternative would be to set your defensive replacements to come in more frequently and just add a very good defensive guy who isn't quite as good as Campos with the bat. A 2B might be a good option if you really want good defence to preserve leads for you and conserve Campos so he can start most games with his 70 DU.

If someone considers Campos a Catcher (43 PC- some would go there for that bat) you could get enough back to fill your 1B spot and have something nice over.

I would do this. If you can.

Campos at C is pretty viable if you're playing in a pitcher-friendly park (can't remember what TB is like). I've never played a C with PC that low who wasn't at least 70s for AS/AA.

People will run on you, but that'll get two solid bats into your lineup... if that's a viable way for you to try to win if your pitching is strong enough.

I dont think I could handle having him play catcher and seeing my staff and their nasty era ballon...

...then he's probably more valuable to you as trade bait for someone who is willing to go through that.
