don’t think this player should be arb-elg Topic

During all of last season and at the end of the season, he showed up under "Free Agent Report" for the upcoming season. He also (for completeness sake) did NOT show up under arbitration report for next year.

Fast forward.. we rolled over. He is now showing up under my Arbitration Report and NOT under my Free Agent Report.

Also weird... he has clearly signed 3 arbitration contracts if you look at his contract history.

Anyone ever experienced this or know what's going on?

Season 10, he spent time at AAA, which probably kept his service time under the full season.

Hover over ML years and there's your answer. 5.129.

Players that spend significant times in the minors during their "arb years" can go to arbitration more than 3 times...I had a backup catcher on one team that floated back and forth betwen the bigs and AAA arbitrate 5 times because his demands were low and liked having him as in insuyrance policy against an injury on my big league roster...I think he was well into his 30s before he finally became a free agent.

ugh, ok thanks guys. Didn't realize that was still possible (to delay anything) after the arb. process started. I continue to learn new things in this game..

I don't even remember demoting the guy, though it's obvious it happened at some point. I wish the Transaction History was more thorough--there had to be either a promotion or a demotion at some point during S10 if he had time in the ML and AAA on my team.

Also, the FA Report appears to assume that a player will be accumulating enough service time to get a full year of ML service in both current and future seasons, so it will sometimes erroneously report that a guy will be a FA in season "x" when he actually is only still arb-eligible.

Isn't there a bug though?

S4- 132 games; 0.132
S5- full year; 1.132
S6- full year; 2.132
S7- full year; 3.132
S8- full year; 4.132
S9- full year; 5.132
S10- 109 games; 5.241

241 would give him a full season so it should be 6 seasons in. I think there is a problem where service time resets to 0 after the first season callup and doesn't count those days as service time.

There is not a bug. The 132 game partial season gets added to the full season 5 to equal 1.000 service time for the start of Season 6, 2.000 to start S7, 3.000 to start S8, 4.000 to start S9, and 5.000 to start S10. Thus the current showing of 5.129 for Season 11 is correct.

Go to the transaction history on the player card, and sort by transaction type. This will give you a more detailed history of demotions or promotions or designations or assignments.

That is the bug. Let's use Luis Vizquel as an example. If what you're saying is right, I can get 6 years of ML time before he hits Arbitration:

S1: Callup after 21 games, Start: 0.000 End: 0.140
S2: Full Year, Start: 0.121 End: 1.000
S3: Demote for 21 games, Start: 1.000 End: 1.140
S4: Full Year, Start: 1.140 End: 2.000
S5: Demote for 21 games, Start: 2.000 End: 2.140
S6: Full Year: Start: 2.140 End: 3.000
S7: First Arb
S8: Second Arb
S9: Thir Arb

So for 63 games in the minors, I can get 9 pre-Free agency years. If I time it up right when a guy comes off the DL, I don't even risk a demotion penalty.

The 132 game first season, plus the 162 game second season should not equal 1.000. That is the bug. It should equal 1.132(plus off days).
