I've bumped a thread about tandems but I thought you might have additional thoughts. I have had injuries and was forced to put a player with dur 24 sta 63 and am toying with a tandem solution to the problem

Your description of those who will hate on me should tell you how much I care about their opinions. Its more important to field a competitive team. Injuries happen and a reasonable solution is not a bad thing especially when the computer selects your relievers (you do have input but still...).

You can use 24/63 pitchers in tandems or long releif and if you have enough of them they can help eat innings if needed. Putting them in tandems gives you more control over when they pitch, but unless you check every cycle and move them around you'd likely get more innings out of them in long releif (assuming they pitch every time they are not below your fatigue setting)

You can also use tandemB settings to make sure a certain RP always gets the first call. Its like having a third category of RPs Setup A ,B and C. But again, you have to check every cycle and move the scheduled starter to the Tandem A spot and the preferred RP to the Tandem B spot. Lot of work over 162 games but useful after roster expansion callups to maximize innings for those future closers.

Not sure what unimpresses me less, the irrelevance of your post or your choice of insult for those that value realism.

24/63 Dur/Sta can be a regular starter- tandem can be used if you want, but is not required by his dur/sta. He'll just be a regular SP who goes 5 innings.

gjello is correct. tandem should only be used if you are short of starters and need to pair some moneyball cheap 40dur40sta pitchers in a starting slot.

This is the correct answer. Although I'd see no issue in using a true RP as a B tandem if you're sweating your bullpen fatigue.
