Type A/B Compensation Extended Topic

In the 5/05/2009 post in the thread, "HBD Updates (Sitestaff posts only)", I found this:

Type A/B Compensation Extended: Compensation picks will now be awarded through the first Amateur Draft preparation day.

My world just passed 'End Sign Free-Agents' on the schedule.

I have 2 Type B FAs ex-players that still are not signed.

The Negotiate Contract screen no long says they are Type B and will create a compensation pick.

That seems to contradict the statement from Admin.

Anybody know what will happen if one of those 2 players are signed by another team between now and first Amateur Draft preparation day?

I believe that's a flaw in the display and not the actual awarding of the picks. Here's the response I got from admin about this very question...

"He's still Type B. It doesn't show up on your negotiation screen because he played for your team last season and you wouldn't get a compensation pick if you signed him. For other franchises in your world the message will appear letting them know that he is a Type B free agent."

It actually helps you get the picks. People dont realize they will lose a pick and sign a cheap FA, and whammy!

No, that's not what happens. Other owners still see the Type A/B designation. You just don't see it for your own FA's because you would not get or lose comp picks for signing your own FA's.

Maybe there was a glitch then? I had a 35-37 year old catcher who was a type A, nobody signed until a few weeks in the season, and the owner vocalized his displeasure at not knowing the player was a type A. Or maybe that owner just ignored the player notes.

Thanks for the help.
