Does the engine value loyalty too much? Topic

Jeff Bzdelik is leaving Colorado for Wake Forest after 3 seasons. He came to Colorado from Air Force after only 2 seasons. I wonder what his loyalty would have been, prior to going to Wake, and what it would be now.

Not sure, but the engine doesn't penalize you much when you move up in divisions.

Thats true but within divisions it does, which is why I am wondering what his loyalty would have been afterleaving air force. I would guess it would have dropped to a D+/C- which in this game would have precluded him from getting the Wake job.

it would depend on how long he had been at the place BEFORE Colorado. A long tenure at Air Force would make the hit smaller, in my experience

i think it does. a B loyalty should not preclude a guy who just won back to back championships from taking over a low level big 6 job. but it does. it should be a penalty, not an absolute requirement, IMO at least.

Bzdelik was with the Nuggets from 2002 to 2004, joined Air Force for two seasons (50-16 record) and then jumped to Colorado for three seasons (36-58 record). His loyalty is an F

It's impossible to compare RL to HD in this respect. RL has assistants that move up with no lower division resume. Schools will hire a successful alumnus if a vacancy appears. Neither of these is applicable in HD and RL is a "win now" mentality, while HD is fine with subjecting a good school with a sim coach if there aren't any qualified candidates.

bzdelik and the AD at wake forest are old buddies.

dont think the engine accounts for that.

It's absolutely necessary in HD to prevent a coach from taking a job, winning with someone else's players, moving up, and continuing to repeat the process. It had been badly abused in previous years, and it's very necessary to have in place.

In my opinion, you should have to spend a minimum of four seasons at any DI job before moving up.

Actually, Fregoe was a A&M CC for 3 years, then at CC for one, then to Florida.

in Crum, I spent one season at La Salle in between Princeton and Iowa. My loyalty took a pretty good hit there, but it did help me reach a BCS job (a move I later regretted).
