Do you guys think there is a such thing as a lineup that is too good vs righties and not good enough vs ies? I've built my offense around the popular notion that since upwards of 60-66% of the pitchers you'll face every day throw right handed, you want hitters that hit righties very well.

My "A-Lineup" as I like to call it uses 2 switch hitters and 4 ies. I've even got a couple Right handed hitters that dominate right handed pitching, including my SS who is a 99 vs righties. I don't have very many hitters that hit ies well.

Should I worry about this? Should I target a right handed batter who I can platoon vs y pitchers?

Yes, you may want to have some guys who can hit ies, too... and they shouldn't be hard to find.

The title of this thread should be "Not good enough against ies?" There's no such thing as too good against righties, and I think a team that dominated righties would put up big regular season win totals even if they were "Meh" against ies. But come playoffs, if you draw someone where you're going to be seeing 4 or 5 LH starts in a 7 game series, that's a huge problem, especially if they're really good ies.

Yeah I worry about the playoffs if I run into a team that has 1 or 2 dominant southpaws. I don't think I'm terrible vs ies but I'm no really good either.

The big problem is not the in the regular season as has been said but in the playoffs, managers will tailor their staff to shutting you down and if possible will start as many ies as possible and load the setup A and closer spots with ies as well (if possible)

So its safe to assume I need to make a trade and do something about this roster prior to the playoffs, correct?

You'd be surprised at what kind of vL hitters you can find on the free agent market for cheap. I usually end up platooning my lineups using my regular vR roster and changing a few players for cheap vL FAs for my vL line-ups.

I just checked last year's statistics and I hit .281 vs ies and only .263 vs righties. That is absolutely absurd. Maybe I'm just worried for nothing.
