Very Frustrated New User Topic

I signed up in a brand new league, but I am very frustrated that there does not seem to be any kind of "user's guide" for this game. There are no thorough directions on how to do everything, which is really frustrating to me. I have a busy work schedule, and I don't have the time to put into figuring it out by trial and error. I love HD and GD, and I think I would really like this game too, if there was a "New User's Guide" that spelled out how to do everything. Hardball Dynasty would do well to have a complete user's guide somewhere on their website, which instructs new players on how to do everything, because it is very complex and there are so many different things to try to learn at the beginning. For example I could not figure out how to release a player that is coming up for arbitration. He has no years in his contract remaining, but he is still up for arbitration and I do not want to re-sign him. I asked on the League Forum, and someone just replied, just release him, which didn't really help me much, since my question was "How" to release him. I don't mind losing the $14.95, and maybe I will try again at a later time, when my life is not quite so busy, especially if WIS ever posts a user's guide on there.

Player moves are simple. You probably don't have time for HBD if you didn't have time to figure that one out.

Check the little box on the far right, scroll down, choose action, hit OK.

That's exactly what I did, but he is still showing up in my arbiitration box.

did you hit submit pending moves?

After the screen reloaded did you scroll to the bottom and hit the "Submit Pending Moves" button?

There is a sort of user's guide in "WKRP, or how to rebuild a disaster" which I just bumped up to page one for you.

Some of you need to remember that the new player's roster management screen is different from a veteran's.

after you click release you need to click "submit pending moves"

it's one of many redundancies in HBD to keep people from doing things they don't actually want to do...

it got me at first too... at the top of the forum there is a way to get a mentor, find one, it helped me a ton, send out 4-5 sitemails, and look for someone who responds quickly to questions.

There is a "Players Guide" of sorts but its hard to get to. On the main screen click "Admins Office", "Rules". There is a link on that page taking you to the "Players Guide".

Or just ASK for help.

There's a thread with people that have volunteered to be mentors.

There's a thread with tips from the first two pilot leagues (Ruth/Aaron).

There are multiple threads about fixing a broken franchise, things to do at rollover, best stats for picking pitchers.... literally hundreds of threads with information.

i agree with mike...and it's too bad because we need noobs...but if you dont have the time to put into the game you wont do well...and you will never learn how to play...the veterans of 10+ seasons are still learning...i would suggest not to play until you have the time...

but then again...there is a "help" button on the top of every page that explains every maneuver...and the screen to make moves is basically self explanitory...

i have been playing since day 1 and we all figured it out on our own...w/out help...there was also a post from one of the first leagues and they explained a lot about the game...try reading that...if you have time...

I think we got chap back engaged. He got into the chat board and a lot of our other owners were on and answered his questions. A # of the new owners have been very involved early on in the new world. I hope to retain most of them.
