Thinking about getting into HBD and have a question for everyone. How will I know what level players that I either sign via FA or guys I draft are going to make? Does it say that they are ML level talent or going to spend their career in the minors, or is this all just based on their ratings and projected ratings?

Based on ratings/projected ratings and how you forecast those will translate into production. Under World > Report > Player Search look for players with similar ratings to the player you are trying to evaluate and see how they've done. Also worth looking at past All Stars or award winners to see what the ratings of an impact player might look like.

Everything's based on ratings and projected ratings...it's up to you to decide who belongs in the majors and when.

It takes a couple seasons (typically) to get a good feel for what constitutes "good" ratings.

The best suggestion I can make is to find a mentor. I did when I first started and it has translated into success earlier than expected. Better yet, find a good world with good owners who are willing to help and advise along the way.

Don't base it off of current or project ratings alone. The individual attributes are very important too. I have a guy who's 75 overall that can't hit worth a damn and I cant wait to get rid of. On the other hand, I a catcher in LoA that is only a projected 52 but has excellent projected ratings-

It'll take probably two seasons to figure out the nuances of the game and who can-or can't hack it in that particular league.
