How important is it? I've always felt it was pretty important especially in motion but I'm switching to triangle with one of my teams and was wondering if it carries the same importance, less or more? The reason I ask is because I'm looking to possibly recruit a PF at SF but he will max out at around 30 pass, is that too low for a D2 SF in Triangle?

Passing is one of the top needs for a good triangle offense. If this is a D1 team, 30 is too low for SF.

Edited my post to say it's a D2 player.

Need a good passer at SF. I have tried to by pass it and have regretted it. At DII I would suggest nothing lower than 50.

my advice is to not let a secondary skill keep you from selecting an otherwise acceptable player in d2 / d3

In d2, the leading scorer on my world 10's mercy team was a 10 pass SF, here are his career stats, the fact he played in 134 games for his career means he averaged 33 1/2 games per season, so he did not harm his team's results as their leading scorer:

Name Pos Seasons GP Min Pts Reb Ast Blk Stl FG% 3Pt% FT%
1. Eliseo Romano SF 19-23 134 2825 1421 644 33 16 173 50.8 41.8 64.5

Turnovers are conspicuously absent from that player's stats above, however...
I agree with oldresorter, though. SPD+ATH+REB most important for my SFs. I also rate LP and FT% as more important than PASS.
But I love to run triangle and the higher BH/PASS your SF has the much fewer turnovers you'll get. I actually don't think it matters between the offenses, I see same basic results for SF in all.

I always favored Perimeter at small forward than Low Post in the triangle offense. Kind of like a 3rd guard. I like to have a LP threat at the 4 or 5, and High PER out of my SG, SF, and at possible my PG. I had good success with this set up than 3 bigs in the triangle.

I remember that guy OR, he was ridiculously athletic and about 70 speed of I recall? His turnovers are actually pretty low, only 1.9 a game, that's a pretty normal amount for a leading scorer. Also, I'm a little late but congrats on that 1st title with Mercy.

Jagged, I'm with you on favoring per over LP however it is said that LP is valued more in the triangle over the other offenses. Have you have had a good LP SF? This guy I have will be very athletic for a D2 SF with a 70-75 LP so he should be able to score but I've never had a LP oriented SF at D2 and the one time I've ever had which was in D1 the guy just didn't produce.

I had decent LP Sf in the triangle, But I think when they say LP is valued more, thats just in general. I would say LP for PF and centers would be weight a little bit more in this offense.

How did that SF do?
